In everyone’s life, there are points of decision. There are forks in the road that determine our ultimate destination. We call them turning points. You see this in the characters of the Bible. Jacob was never the same after the night he spent wrestling with the Angel. Moses’s life was forever altered by his encounter with God at the burning bush. Peter’s vision on the rooftop in Joppa changed the whole scope of Christianity. And God continues to reveal His plans and shape His people by fresh encounters with His Spirit.
The Calvary Chapel movement has a rich history and, I believe, a bright future. But a rich history alone doesn’t ensure a bright future. In between our history and future, we need to experience God in fresh ways.
This year, we plan to study examples in the Bible where God met His people and transformed both their character and the course of their lives. And my prayer is that, in doing so, God will meet us in a pivotal way.
This year’s line up of teachers includes some new faces. You’ll enjoy hearing from all of these men. Of course, the highlight of each year’s conference is the fellowship we share together. Brothers and sisters laboring in the Deep South have much in common.
The dates this year are September 2-4. Hotels and registration details can be found at calvarychapeldeepsouth.com. We hope you and the leaders of your church will join us. Scholarships for pastors may be available upon request by contacting the church office.
